New Zealand is excellent for traveling with a camper . The roads are
quiet , in many places you can fill water or dump dirty water and there
are many camp sites, the Department of Conservation campsites being
often simple but most beautiful.

car |
We had the 4-berth campervan. Nice camper with large windows at the
back offering great views. Amenities include: large wardrobe, four
burner stove, rather large sink, electronic safe, reasonably sized
refrigerator (internal battery only) , shower / toilet. Car itself
is a not very refined truck (Mitshubishi Canter) , it has remote
control key and air conditioning , but not such things like warnings
for forgotten lights or cruise control . Control and oversight is
fine, the use of the clutch is fairly heavy. Diesel consumption is
1:7 to 1:8 |
|
beds |
Large bed which can be created from couch, chairs and table in the
back . Especially when filling the gaps between the cushions
somewhat the bed is great. Or use the (smaller) bed in the alcove
above the driver's cabine, of course it is relatively low but of
good quality . |
|
service |
Very good. Shuttle picked us up from from b & b and we were brought
back to the next car hire (or airport) on returning the camper. Many
service stations . A broken toilet was replaced the next day sent by
express to a service station near our next destination. The gas tank
is not full but as this was not communicated the filling costs were
reimbursed immediately. |

clean |
Good . Rather difficult to keep clean because there is a carpet in
the van and there is no vacuum cleaner on board. Strictly non
smoking |
